During a Yin Yoga class, students can sometimes experience different emotional releases, such as anxiety, fear, happiness, sadness or boredom.
As humans, we are emotional beings, and old emotions can be physically stored in the body. Unresolved emotions can become physical pain or blockages.

Yin Yoga postures are more passive postures, mainly on the floor, and relaxed into for several minutes at a time. It is not uncommon to see postures held for three to five minutes, and because of this, Yin offers deep access to the body.
This style of yoga is not rigorous, but is deeply effective and healing. Here the practitioner accesses and unlocks the deep connective tissues, bones, joints, fascia and ligaments in the body. As one ages, flexibility in the joints decreases and Yin Yoga is a wonderful way to maintain that flexibility, and keep our bodies light as we age.
